Aquatera and Partners Launch International Blue Economy Robotarium at All-Energy 2025 Conference

June 9th 2025

At All-Energy Exhibition and Conference 2025, Aquatera was delighted to join with its co-partners in launching the new International Blue Economy Robotarium.

The initiative aims to explore the opportunities associated with automation, the application of artificial intelligence, and the use of digitised data to further develop the opportunities associated with blue economies around the world, particularly in island settings.

The Blue Robotarium will explore, develop and apply Robotics, AI and Data Management to facilitate the safe and sustainable growth of the global blue economy in ways that bring benefits to all parts of society. The Robotarium will provide new experience and expertise in Robotronics, Automation, Data Acquisition and Data Modelling, and will focus on practical capacity and resources to allow cost effective and rapid development and deployment of Robotics and Data Dependent Solutions.

Building upon the strong collaborative base already established in Orkney, the International undertaking will leverage the broad knowledge brought by the consortium of partners, including Aquatera, EMEC, Green Marine, Leask Marine, Heriot-Watt University Orkney (ICIT) and The National Robotarium. The practical assets and expertise brought by this consortium will allow for cost-effective and rapid development of solutions that benefit developments in the blue economy. The initiative will give clients access to world-leading testing facilities Orkney's unique archipelagic and marine environment - allowing for comprehensive testing, demonstration and applications of new technologies to accelerate their journey to market.

Through international collaboration and project experience, the International Blue Economy Robotarium, will not only look outwards towards the future, but will look to develop a global reach; in a world where data and automation are going to be essential parts of our future, Aquatera hopes to build on its strong community and sustainability links to ensure that this transition delivers for everybody.
