Tom is an incorporated engineer with a marine background who grew up in the Shetland Islands. A qualified MCA workboat skipper, he was awarded a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Glasgow University and finished one year of his degree in French at the Bordeaux University of Science and Technology.
Prior to joining Aquatera, Tom completed an engineering graduate training scheme at Aquamarine Power, supporting the Oyster 1 wave energy project from the design phase, through fabrication and installation, to operation. Subsequently he was project engineer for the installation of the Oyster 800 wave energy converter. A keen linguist, Tom is now based in Santiago where he develops Aquatera's Chilean marine energy projects.
