Roger has been involved in Renewable Energy for the past 11 years. Was previously QHSE Manager at Searoc Ltd, where he provided health and safety support to the project team responsible for the installation of Marine Current Turbines - SeaGen Tidal Device - into Strangford Lough, and to various project management teams responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of a number of Round 1 and 2 Offshore Wind Farms.
Prior to this, Roger was QHSE Manager at Ocean Power Delivery Ltd (now Pelamis Wave Power) for five years, was intimately involved with the development of the Pelamis Wave Energy Machine from concept, prototype and in to serial production of three machines for Enersis. He was responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring all health and safety-related activities throughout each of these development phases, including those specific to design, manufacture, installation and commissioning, operation and maintenance, and device removal from site.
As one of very few people who can claim intimate involvement in the installation of all three types of Offshore Renewables (Wind, Wave and Tidal), he was able to make a significant contribution to the creation of the British Wind Energy Association’s (BWEA) Health and Safety Guidelines for Marine Renewable Energy Projects.
